Knights of the Old Republic Online CONFIRMED!

In an interview with Portfolio Magazine at E3, Electronic Arts head cheese John Riccitiello confirmed that the company is working on two MMO's. One, Warhammer Online has already been announced and to be honest will probably find it tough to take away much traffic from the monster that is World of Warcraft. The second game however is the one that has long been rumored and prayed for, but never confirmed till now.
Thats right peeps, the MMO scene just got a whole lot sexier as wannabe Jedis everywhere get the chance to put the nightmare that was Star Wars Galaxies behind them and polish their lightsabers in anticipation of the deep joy that will be know as KOTOR online!

Developed by original KOTOR creators BioWare in partnership with LucasArts, there is no release date, butmy own gut feeling is that a Fall 2009 / Early 2010 date will see padawans and Sith apprentices everywhere lining up to get a taste of the KOTOR goodness.

And so that was E3 2008....

Phew!

Its late on Thursday night, and E3 2008 is over! Its been an interesting 3 days (4 if you count the press conferences on Monday) and I have seen more games than you can shake a stick at.

Yesterday we had a crew at the show (basically me and JungleBoy) and we recorded a lot of interviews for a whole bunch of games. These will be aired over the coming weeks as part of the show, so you will have to check us out every week to get the skinny, the scoop, the 411 and indeed the lowdown!

So, was the show any good you ask? Well, yes and no, the phrase 'a mixed bag' was certainly applicable this week, as while none of the 'big boys' (Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo) really brought anything new to the table, a bunch of smaller and newer publishers had some very interesting and cool wares on display.

So without going into too much detail (gotta save stuff for the live show!) here are some of my highs and lows of E3 2008:

Highs:

Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment for having Lego Batman and Project Origin (F.E.A.R. 2) and then blowing me away with the demo for 'Wanted'.

Xceed Games for bringing back Populus for the DS!

D3 Publisher for Galactrix, Onechambara and the awesome Shaun the Sheep!

Capcom for RE5 and Bionic Commando

Lows:

Nintendo and Microsoft for two of the most inane, embarassing and uninspiring press conferences I have ever attended.

Sony for not letting me attend their press conf (which I am told was just as bad as the other 2)

All 3 of the above for not bringing anything new or sexy to the table.

The Entertainment Software Association (the muppets who organise E3) for managing to not promote the show or the industry, and for making most of the attendees feel like they should be ashamed of being involved with games.

So thats it for now, I have 80 billion press kits to wade through and /or download, and I have to gather my thoughts into something approximating English for next weeks show on livevideo.com.

See you next Tues at 3pm PST!
